Before the mainstage season even begins, TheatreWorks will launch its annual New Works Festival—now expanded and more ambitious than ever. This beloved incubator for new plays and musicals has long been a cornerstone of the company’s identity, with a track record of developing shows that go on to national and international stages.

The TheatreWorks’ 2025/26 season opens with a fresh adaptation of Little Women by Lauren Gunderson, directed by Artistic Director Giovanna Sardelli. Running from September 24 to October 12, 2025, at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts, this production offers a contemporary take on the classic tale of the March sisters, emphasizing their enduring bonds and individual journeys.

Following this, A Driving Beat by Jordan Ramirez Puckett takes the stage from October 29 to November 23, 2025, at the MVCPA SecondStage. Directed by Jeffrey Lo, this world premiere explores the dynamics between a white mother and her adopted brown son during a transformative road trip, set to a hip-hop rhythm.

December brings Georgiana and Kitty: Christmas at Pemberley, another installment in the beloved series by Lauren Gunderson and Margot Melcon. Running from December 3 to 28, 2025, at the Lucie Stern Theatre in Palo Alto, this holiday tale follows the younger Bennet sisters as they navigate love, music, and societal expectations.

In the new year, Hershey Felder returns with The Piano and Me, scheduled for January 17 to February 8, 2026, at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts. This autobiographical performance delves into Felder’s personal journey, interwoven with compositions by Wagner, Mendelssohn, and others, offering audiences an intimate musical experience.

March 2026 features the regional premiere of Primary Trust by Eboni Booth, directed by Jeffrey Lo. Running from March 4 to 29, 2026 at the Lucie Stern Theatre, this Pulitzer Prize-winning play centers on Kenneth, a 38-year-old navigating life’s challenges with unexpected humor and heart.

The season concludes with Come from Away, a New York Times Critics’ Pick that takes audiences into the heart of the remarkable true story of 7,000 stranded passengers on September 11 and the small town in Newfoundland that welcomed them. Running from April 15 to May 10, 2026 at Mountain View Center, this Olivier Award–winning musical, will be helmed by Artistic Director Emeritus Robert Kelley.

TheatreWorks’ 2025/26 season promises a rich tapestry of narratives that celebrate the human spirit. Subscriptions are now available, offering theatergoers the opportunity to be part of this compelling journey.
