The Seattle arts scene is expanding its commitment to accessibility, recognizing that the power of performance should be for everyone. For organizations across the city, making the performing arts accessible goes beyond simply meeting ADA requirements; it’s about creating an inclusive space where each audience member feels welcome and has the opportunity to engage fully in the arts. Accessible performances make this possible, from ASL interpretation and audio descriptions to sensory-friendly environments that bring everyone into the experience.

If you’re looking for shows that offer a more inclusive experience—whether that’s theatre, dance, or musicals—there are some fantastic upcoming performances. These events not only celebrate the talent on stage but also honor the diverse needs and preferences of their audiences, so everyone can enjoy the joy and magic of live art.

On the Stage

Cabaret openings, workshop performances, and grant applications...kick off the new month with a fresh perspective of the arts.

  •  Your table is ready at the Intiman Cabaret. The new performance series opened yesterday with Hotel Gatsby. “The Intiman Cabaret is born from our commitment to holding space for Seattle artists at every stage of their careers, and continuing to expand upon what contemporary performance can be,” shared Artistic Director Jennifer Zeyl.
  • Seattle Opera and Seattle Children's Theatre join forces to present a workshop performance of the hip-hop opera Stomping Grounds on November 7. This free performance melds spoken word, opera, and hip-hop for a one-of-a-kind performance.
  • The City of Seattle Arts in Parks grant is now open. A collaboration between the Seattle Office of Arts & Culture (ARTS) and Seattle Parks and Recreation, this grant allows artists to bring new and existing festivals or events to eligible parks, especially in underserved and economically challenged areas.
Until next time, enjoy every moment of the season’s best performances. We’ll see you in the audience.
