Seattle Shakespeare Company has announced its beloved summer tradition is coming back: Wooden O returns this year with As You Like It, Shakespeare’s breezy tale of mistaken identity, romance, and self-discovery. Kicking off July 10 and running through August 17, this free outdoor series brings professional theatre to parks across the Puget Sound region. Directing this year’s show is Mimi Katano, a respected Seattle-based artist making her Seattle Shakespeare debut. With laughter, love, and lush summer settings, it’s a perfect way to enjoy theatre in a peaceful, outdoor environment.

In As You Like It, Shakespeare takes us deep into the Forest of Arden—a place of escape, transformation, and unexpected romance. Disguises, witty wordplay, and mistaken identities abound as Rosalind, banished from court, finds herself falling for Orlando while pretending to be someone else. It’s a joyful comedy that celebrates love in all its forms, making it a perfect fit for a summer evening in the park. With its blend of humor, heart, and hijinks, this production invites audiences of all ages to rediscover one of the Bard’s most charming plays.
